A planning tool for freelancers that sorts every payment into rent, tax and runway, so a good month and a quiet month both feel manageable
The problem
Freelancers rarely know how much of an invoice is actually theirs. Tax, rent and the slow months all come out of the same balance, so every payment arrives with a small knot of doubt about what is safe to spend.
What I built
Sorted splits each incoming payment into three pots the moment it lands: bills, tax and runway. The home screen shows one number that matters, how many weeks you could keep going if work stopped today, and nothing else.
A detail that mattered
Early testers ignored percentages but reacted strongly to weeks. Rewriting every figure as time rather than money made the tool feel less like accounting and more like planning.
Outcome
Forty freelancers used the beta for three months. Most stopped keeping a separate tax spreadsheet within the first few weeks, and several said it was the first time a quiet month did not feel like an emergency.
